Lady Gaga Ends Exclusive Partnership with Target Over Anti-LGBT Donations

Lady Gaga Ends Exclusive Partnership with Target Over Anti-LGBT Donations Lady Gaga had good intentions!

Early last month it was reported that Lady Gaga would team up with chain store Target to exclusively release a deluxe edition of her latest album Born This Way.

At the time of the partnership Gaga's manager Troy Carter said, "Target and Lady Gaga together is a win-win. The partnership provides us with an opportunity to really engage the fans early and widen our reach on the album promotion."

Gaga was hit with a barrage of questions based on the company's affiliation with anti-LGBT political campaigns. Particularly, Target donated corporate funds to MN Forward, a political action committee that supported antigay candidate Tom Emmer in his failed 2010 run for governor of Minnesota.

In last month's Billboard magazine Gaga responded to the controversy saying, "That discussion was one of the most intense conversations I’ve ever had in a business meeting. Part of my deal with Target is that they have to start affiliating themselves with LGBT charity groups and begin to reform and make amends for the mistakes they’ve made in the past."

She continued, "Our relationship is hinged upon their reform in the company to support the gay community and to redeem the mistakes they’ve made supporting those groups.”

The Advocate is reporting now that the overall deal has been axed. There will be no Target exclusive with "it girl" Gaga.

Was Target not ready to full commit to reforming their practices? A statement from Gaga's reps was vague, but confirmed the split.

“Lady Gaga and Target came to a mutual decision to end their overall exclusive partnership a few weeks ago."

Either way we say good for you Gaga, good for you!
