Kung Fu Candy? 'Kung Fu Panda' Writers To Take On 'Candyland' Script

When Universal and Hasbro made a deal back in 2008 for a string of movie adaptations, the world had just one question: how the heck do you make Candyland into a full-length feature film?

We'll find out soon, as writers Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger are set to write the screenplay themselves. The team brought us the script for "Kung Fu Panda" and is penning the sequel, "Kung Fu Panda 2: The Kaboom of Doom," as well.

They'll have quite a bit of freedom in this adaptation, as the board game doesn't have much in terms of a story. The landmarks are there (who could forget the Candy Cane Forest or Gumdrop Mountain?), as are some of the characters, but the narrative will be left up to the imaginations Aibel and Berger.

Luckily, those are two very good imaginations. If the whimsy and humor of "Kung Fu Panda" is any indication, these two should end up producing a solid script. With a live-action movie planned, "Candyland" will have plenty of opportunity for visual inventiveness and great art design.
