Kristin Davis Joins Upcoming "Bad Teacher" Spinoff/Remake Series
by Zack Wells“Sex and the City”s Charlotte York Goldenblatt herself, Kristin Davis, has signed on for CBS’s upcoming spinoff remake of 2011’s “Bad Teacher” (starring Cameron Diaz, Jason Segel, and Justin Timberlake).
Kristin Davis will be playing Ginny, a history teacher, choir teacher, Faculty President, and lead character Meredith’s nemesis. The role of Ginny is based on Lucy Punch in the film (played by Amy Squirrel).
Ari Graynor also joins the cast as leading lady Meredith Davis, based on Elizabeth Halsey (played by Cameron Diaz). Meredith is described as a hot, confident, unapologetic former trophy wife who becomes a teacher to find a new man after her husband leaves her without a dime.
Also in the cast are Ryan Hansen (“Veronica Mars”, “Friday the 13th”) as Joel Kotsky, and David Alan Grier (“In Living Color”, “Jumanji”) as Carl Gaines. However, it is not certain the roles their characters were play, or who their film alternatives are. Though it can be a safe bet that Joel Kotsky will be that parallel of Scott Delacote (played by Justin Timberlake), mainly due to his appearance.
This new series, written by Hilary Winston, directed by Don Scardino, and maintaining movie writers Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg as executive producers, is set to debut soon, likely this fall.
So how do you feel about the casting of Kristin Davis to play yet another good girl in contrast to a more crass and overtly sexual woman? Has her role in “Sex and the City” permanently typecast her as the pure, strict, regulation-following female?
