SJP and Kristin Davis Agree: Just Say No to a 'Sex and the City' Prequel

Early this month casting rumors were swirling in the form of a young Carrie Bradshaw and a "Sex and the City" prequel.

"It" girl Blake Lively, star of the hit show "Gossip Girl," is at the center of the gossip, rumored to be the director's choice.

One issue.. it sounds like at least half of the original foursome are anti-prequel!

The film would focus on Candace Bushnell’s upcoming book Summer and the City, about the teenage years of her heroine.

Sarah Jessica Parker told 24 Frames, "It's creating two histories. It's like, 'Oh I didn't know that about Carrie Bradshaw.' I don't think we can pretend to go back."

Last night at the Costume Designers Guild Awards, Kristin Davis was in harmony with SJP telling E! Online, "Not so into the prequel movie, because we're us and we've discussed our history in the show already, so for all of our fervent fans who listen to what we say, why would we rewrite that?"

Reasonable right?

A case can be made on both sides of the debate.

Pro Prequel: Even though sequel to the TV-show-turned-movie franchise was a flop, there is a genuine love and desire for more Carrie Bradshaw in the glamorous days, before babies and husbands. Blake Lively is currently reigning as NYC queen supreme and no one could fill those Manolos better.

Anti Prequel: It would be strange to see other actors as the characters we have all come to know and love. The change could tarnish a legacy and be off-putting to diehard "SATC" fans.

Either way, we hope there is more in store for the franchise. Stay tuned for upcoming news on the prequel predicament.
