Kristin Chenoweth Signs Up To Star on CBS Pilot
by Shannon KeirnanKristin Chenoweth is back on CBS, after a long hiatus from the television screen following an injury on the set of “The Good Wife!”
Chenoweth will be appearing alongside Matthew Broderick in an as-yet untitled CBS multi-camera sitcom, developed by “Scrubs” writer Tad Quill. James Burrows will direct the pilot.
In the show, Broderick plays a recently widowed man trying to raise his 12-year-old son, while also edging back into the dating waters.
Chenoweth will play his sister, Marnie. She is described as a “cute, judgmental” waitress at a nice-but-not-fancy restaurant.
As an aspiring therapist she is all-too eager to dole out advice, even though she hasn’t quite completed her clinical hours for state certification, and is considered somewhat of a busy-body with strong opinions on everything.
Chenoweth and Broderick appeared together in 2003’s ABC adaptation of “The Music Man,” but no word yet whether the CBS show will allow them to displaying their singing talents.
Both are musical theater vets and Tony winners. Broderick currently stars in Broadway’s Nice Work if You Can Get It, and received a Tony or his work in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and Brighton Beach Memoirs. He was Tony-nominated for his performance in The Producers.
Chenoweth won the Tony Award in 1999 for her performance in You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown. She was nominated in 2004 for her performance in Wicked.
Chenoweth, has also appeared in multiple television spots, including “Pushing Daisies,” “Glee,” “The Good Wife,” and “GCB.”
