Kristin Chenoweth to be Honored by GLAAD for Speaking Out Against Gay and Lesbian Prejudice Kristin Chenoweth is being honored by GLAAD (the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) for the work she's done to help eliminate prejudice against gay and lesbian people.

Kristin has been most recently known for her role in "Pushing Daisies," but what people might not know is that she's also a Broadway star and has an amazing voice, which she's used well in her efforts to promote tolerance.

"Ricky Martin and Kristin Chenoweth will be honored at the 22nd annual GLAAD Awards, the organization announced Wednesday. Martin will receive the Vito Russo Award at the New York award ceremony on March 19, and Chenoweth will be given the Vanguard Award at the L.A. event on April 10."

"When allies like Kristin take such powerful stands against anti-gay sentiments in the media, it sends an important message of equality," added Barrios. "It is a privilege to honor such a talented and conscientious advocate for fairness towards the LGBT community."

Congratulations to both entertainers.

Ricky Martin is a Latino singer who has come out as a gay man, and has recently had twins via a surrogate mother. He is being honoroed for helping LGBT youth by actively speaking out over English and Spanish media.

Chenoweth is an activist when she isn’t busy singing and dancing on stage. She received the Vanguard Award from the organization for the work she did in speaking at the National Equality March in October 2009 and at the LGBT Community Center of New York, as well as supporting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and GLSEN.

The actress has a few projects coming up in the next year. Some of them include: "Tinker Bell and the Mysterious Winter Woods" and "Family Weekend," which isn’t due for release until 2012.
