Kristen Wiig, Seth Rogen Join 'Arrested Development'
by Shannon KeirnanKristen Wiig is all over the board lately… as it should be!
Newly announced, the funny woman will be appearing as a love interest for Brick Tamland (Steve Carell) in the “Anchorman” sequel…but that’s not all we can look forward to seeing the comedienne appearing in this year.
Wiig will also be making a guest appearance on the resurrected “Arrested Development!”
The show was saved from the void of cancellation by Netflix, who will be exclusively airing new episodes starting in May, only available through the website’s streaming media.
While not too much information is currently accessible regarding what character Wiig will be playing (and within which episodes), speculation is that Wiig will be a younger version of the family matriarch Lucille Bluth (Jessica Walter).
A flashback episode? Awesome.
In addition to the “Saturday Night Live” alum, “Knocked Up” actor Seth Rogen will also be making appearances on the show.
In fact, the overall list of guest stars is pretty impressive—even without big names like Rogen and Wiig.
Liza Minnelli will be appearing as Lucille Bluth’s “frenemy,” along with Henry Winkler as the family attorney Barry Zuckerkom. Audiences can also look forward to appearances from Conan O’Brien, John Slattery and Chris Diamantopoulos.
Each episode will revolve around a different character (beginning with Michael Bluth, played by Jason Bateman), and fourteen episodes will be available.
"This is the first act of what we would like to complete in a movie," says creator Mitch Hurwitz. "These are episodes that set that up. One does not work without the other."
