Kristen Wiig to Join in 'Anchorman' Sequel

“You stay classy, San Diego. I’m Ron Burgundy?”

And stay classy it will.

Director Adam McKay of the upcoming “Anchorman” sequel, “Anchorman: The Legend Continues”, has revealed today via his Twitter and Facebook accounts that the hilarious (and classy) Kristen Wiig has been officially added to the cast.

“Just found out Kristen Wiig officially on board for Anchorman 2. Cannonball!”

Wiig, the writer and star of the award winning “Bridesmaids”, is best known for her work on and memorable characters from “Saturday Night Live.” But that’s not all. She has leant her voice to the hit films “How to Train Your Dragon” and “Despicable Me” (as well as their upcoming sequels).

Wiig joins the returning cast of the first movie, Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd), Brick Tamland (Steve Carell), Champ Kind (Dave Koechner), and, of course, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell).

Her role is currently unknown, however, it has been rumored she is set to play the love interest of the loveably dense Brick Tamland (Carell).

Not much is known about the plot, either, with only the main cast being revealed. However, it has been promised to be a continuing on-set adventure of San Diego’s top-rated newsman.

So, we must ask ourselves; will this upcoming film fall victim to the curse of sequels? Is it possible to have too much of a good thing?

I, for one, remain cautiously optimistic about this film.

“Anchorman: The Legend Continues” is set to be released December 20th, 2013, so be sure to check it out.
