Kristen Stewart Plays Soldier in 'Camp X-Ray' Trailer
by Andy NeuenschwanderKristen Stewart has played a vampire, and audiences bought it. But can she convince audiences that she's a soldier?
The first trailer for "Camp X-Ray" points to "yes."
The IFC Films movie features Stewart as a soldier/prison guard at Guantanamo Bay who strikes up an unlikely friendship with one of the detainees (played by Peyman Moaadi). The story follows the pair as his story begins to make her doubt her reasons for being there, as well as the whole nature of war.
Early screenings of the movie have brought positive reviews, particularly for the performances. Moaadi is said to be excellent, and Stewart is getting equally glowing reviews of her performance.
This could mark a big comeback for the actress, who has been (in this writer's opinion, wrongfully) pegged as a flat, emotionless performer. But when one is famous for roles in "Twilight" and "Snow White and the Huntsman," it's tough to show off one's skills.
"Camp X-Ray" is set to hit theaters on October 17. Check out the first official trailer below:
