Kristen Bell's New Song is the Modern Christmas Carol You've Been Waiting For

Christmas music can be divisive. Some love it more than air, while others can't wait for the season to end just so they won't have to hear "Sleigh Bells" anymore.

One thing we can all agree on is that Christmas music, in general, is a little old fashioned. Holiday songs are often written to be timeless, focusing on the feeling of the season or singing about Santa Claus as opposed to making something timely and current.

Kristen Bell is here to fix that.

Bell reminded everyone how well she can sing when she played Anna in Disney's "Frozen" last year, so she was naturally the first choice of a capella group Straight No Chaser when they wanted someone to sing the lead on their Christmas song, "Text Me Merry Christmas."

"We wanted a Christmas song that spoke to how informal communication has become," said Randy Stine, one of the singers in the group. "[Kristen] nailed every note and delivered the lyrics with the perfect comedic tone. We were hanging on her every word … when we weren’t looking at our phones."

The song takes Christmas music into the 21st century, with Bell singing lyrics like "Text me Merry Christmas / Let me know you care / Just a word or two / Of text from you / Will remind me you’re still there."

It might be a little on-the-nose, and sure, people probably won't be singing this one 50 years from now, but we still think it's pretty cute.
