Opinion: Kim Kardashian's Wedding Registry Makes Me Weep for Humanity

What did you put on your wedding registry, or buy for a friend for their wedding gift? A blender? Ha! Kim Kardashian scoffs at your lack of imagination. What you should have gotten was an $840 ashtray.

That's just one of the items on the wedding registry of Kim Kardashian, which was released by People.com yesterday. The most famous and most-often-taped-having-sex Kardashian is engaged to be married to NBA star Kris Humphries, which can mean only one thing: presents!

Among the many incredibly unnecessary and expensive items on the list are a $7,500 vase, a $375 candy jar (better put some high-quality Skittles in there), $150 ice tongs, a $1,115 clock, and the aforementioned $840 ashtray.

Why -- and I'm asking honestly here -- why on earth would you need to spend $840 on something that's either going to hold cigarette ash (if you smoke) or sit there unused (if you don't)? And what are those ice tongs made out of? At that price they'd better get the ice from the freezer and bring them to you themselves.

Apparently, the cheapest items on the list are some $46 martini glasses. That's...almost reasonable, actually.
