Kim Kardashian drew the ire of Arsenal fans for not being able to use her influence to resolve the situation regarding midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who will miss the Europa League final against Chelsea in Baku, Azerbaijan, next week.
Kardashian, who is of Armenian descent, was slammed — perhaps jokingly — as a “disgrace” by some of the club’s fanbase, as Mkhitaryan, who was born in Armenia, will not participate in the match amid safety concerns stemming from political tension between his home country and Azerbaijan.
“Armenian when it’s convenient, yet silent on the issue of Mkhitaryan playing in the Europa League final? You’re a disgrace to your federation,” one fan seethed in a reply to Kardashian’s tweet from April 2016: “It’s been a year since my cousins, Khloe, Kanye, North &I visited Armenia &learned so much about our family history.”
“So disappointed in the Kardashians on this,” another replied, via the UK’s The Sun.
Kardashian has not yet appeared to respond.
