Kevin Smith To Give 'Pawn Stars' Concept Appropriate Dose Of Geekery

Kevin Smith To Give 'Pawn Stars' Concept Appropriate Dose Of Geekery So it seems that after he finishes promoting his current underground sensation "Red State" and shooting the hockey movie "Hit Somebody" - which he claims will be his last big-screen directorial effort - Kevin Smith will start thinking a little smaller.

Apparently Smith digs the "Pawn Stars" reality TV concept, but thinks it could speak better to his core crowd. With that in mind, he announced via Facebook that he's developing a take on the show for pop-culture fanboys with some choice memorabilia they could unload.

Smith's show will set up shop at his long-time Red Bank, N.J. comic book emporium Jay & Silent Bob's Secret Stash, named for the iconic stoners in Smith's beloved New Jersey Anthology consisting of "Clerks," "Mallrats," "Chasing Amy," "Dogma," "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" and finally "Clerks II."

Since its opening, Smith has co-owned the store with his View Askew Productions partner Scott Mosier and has featured it in a number of his movies.

He's currently limiting his casting call only to tri-state area men and women ages 21-35. He asks that participants be available in Red Bank June 2 or June 3, and for a three-day reshoot June 14-16. Send a picture and short bio that includes your name, age and phone number to [email protected]. Smith will then contact applicants for follow-up interviews.
