Kevin Hart's Serious Car Crash Caused by Reckless Driving

Sometimes bad decisions have serious consequences. Authorities say that the car crash that seriously injured comedian Kevin Hart and his friend Jared Black was caused by Black's reckless driving in Hart's vintage muscle car. In addition, Hart and Black were reportedly not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. That's probably bad news for any potential lawsuit, since the report suggests that the driver and occupants were entirely at fault. Read on for details.

The man behind the wheel of comedian Kevin Hart‘s car was driving recklessly and caused the Sept. 1 crash that seriously injured Hart, authorities said in a report released Thursday.

Jared Black was driving Hart’s 1970 Plymouth Barracuda in Los Angeles when he accelerated into a turn on Mulholland Highway and lost control of the car, according to the report from the California Highway Patrol.

The car slid down an embankment and slammed into a tree, according to the report.

Both Hart and Black’s fiancee, Rebecca Broxterman, were passengers in the car, police said. Hart and Black suffered serious back injuries, while Broxterm had minor injuries.

Hart issued a statement through his lawyer Thursday praising Broxterman and Black.

“I have nothing but love for Jared and wish him and Rebecca a speedy recovery,” he said.
