Kelsey Grammer to Direct Pilot for Conan O'Brien

Kelsey Grammer to Direct Pilot for Conan O'Brien Remember when Michael Chiklis was terrifying? Each week on television, Vic Mackey would show up on TV and I'd be all set in my living room, ready to confess to things I've never even heard of.

Somewhere along the way that all turned around. Nothing like playing a superhero - two, at that (yes, "Fantastic Four" and "No Ordinary Family" DID happen) - to turn all that around.

Now, he'll star in a sitcom called "Vince Uncensored," in which a man (I'm assuming his name is Vince) has a life-changing experience and decides to take a more honest approach to his family, work, and life as a whole. Judging by the series title, I'm guessing that honesty will have a bit of an edge to it.

Deadline is now reporting that the pilot for "Vince Uncensored" will be directed by none other than Frasier himself, Kelsey Grammer. Besides playing the same character for twenty years, Grammer also directed nearly forty episodes of the show himself, along with episodes of other sitcoms and a couple of TV movies.

Conan O'Brien's entertainment company Conaco will be producing the film.

The series was created by veteran sitcom writer Phoef Sutton, who must have gotten teased a bit on the playground, but went on to write for Bob Newhart, so I guess he showed them. He also wrote for "Cheers," "Boston Legal," and the recently-cancelled 'Terriers."

Grammer recently wrapped up a run on Broadway in "La Cage aux Folles," better known to us Yanks as the inspiration for its remake, "The Birdcage."

He'll next star in the Starz original show "Boss," a political drama set in Chicago that will be directed by Gus Van Sant.
