Keanu Reeves Heading to TV in New Series 'Rain'
by Andy NeuenschwanderKeanu Reeves will be taking all those skills he learned in "The Matrix" and taking them to television.
The actor is set to start in the upcoming series "Rain," based on the novels of Barry Eisler. The story will follow John Rain, a half-American, half-Japanese hitman who kills people all over the world for a contract company.
The heart of the show will be in Rain's inability to find any emotional connections to people, and we can already see the potential for a slightly episodic approach in having him off a different target every week.
Even more fun: Rain's M.O. is to make all of his hits look like they weren't assassinations at all, as he tries to make each target look like he or she died of natural causes. So, think of it as "Grosse Pointe Blank" meets "Dexter," only with a little more subtlety in the killings.
Reeves would also produce the series in addition to starring, continuing his move toward work behind the camera. Just last year, he directed his first major film in "Man of Tai Chi," which unfortunately didn't perform too well at the box office.
Here's hoping "Rain" turns out a little better.
