Katy Perry's Mom Wants Book Deal to 'Set The Record Straight'

Katy Perry's Mom Wants Book Deal to 'Set The Record Straight' From Christian singer to singing about kissing girls, Katy Perry has made it clear that she’s doing things her way – and not by her parents’ rules.

As Page Six reports, Perry’s mom wants a say, which is why she is seeking a book deal. Mary Perry Hudson says she would like to write about her Christian ministry and address the life choices Katy has made.

Katy Perry, who first started singing Christian music under the name of Katy Hudson, says her parents were strict and religious.

"We were never allowed to swear," Perry said. "I'd get into trouble just for saying 'Hell no.' If you dropped a hammer on your toe in our house you had to say something like 'Jiminy Christmas.’”

Additionally, Perry revealed she was only allowed to listen to Gospel music.

“No wonder I rebelled!" she remarked.

For the most part, Perry’s mom is proud of her daughter but disagrees with some of the choices she makes in her career.

The proposal for her book states:

"Amid a torrent of negative reports from tabloid magazines and entertainment shows, Mary Hudson wants to tell 'her story' and dispel a lot of rumors. Katy's success has impacted her ministry in both negative and positive ways…This memoir is to set the record straight. It is not Christian proselytizing or a Katy Perry tell-all. It is the story of Mary Perry Hudson."
