Katy Perry Sued by Christian Band for Stealing Music

Katy Perry Sued by Christian Band for Stealing Music Katy Perry is in some hot water lately, as a group of Christian musicians are suing her for allegedly stealing some of their music for her hit "Dark Horse."

Worse than just taking it, the band claims she has forever tainted their music by infusing it with "black magic."

Grammy-nominated rapper Flame (Marcus Gray), Chike Ojukwi, Emanuel Lambert, and Grammy-winning rapper LeCrae (Lecrae Moore) have filed a lawsuit in St. Louis federal court.

The suit is against Katy Perry and Capitol Records, claiming that "Dark Horse" steals from their 2008 song "Joyful Noise."

It alleges that Perry, Juicy J, producers Dr. Like and Max Martin, and others, "infringed on the copyright" of the song, and have "exploited and profited" from that.

It also claims that "Joyful Noise," which won awards in the Christian and Gospel music scene, and is featured on the Grammy-nominated album "Our World: Redeemed," has been "irreparably tarnnished by its associating with the witchcraft, paganim, black magic, and Illuminti imagery" evoked by "Dark Horse" and its music video.

It's not the first time "Dark Horse" has upset viewers. A Change.org petition was started in February to have the singer remove a scene of a man wearing a pendant emblazoned with "Allah" while standing in fire removed from the music video. Thousands in the Muslim community considered the imagery blashemy.
