'Kate Plus 8' Officially Cancelled

'Kate Plus 8' Officially Cancelled When TLC released their fall schedule and "Kate Plus 8" wasn't on it, we suspected the show was about to be cancelled. Now it's official.

A TLC representative released a statement to People acknowledging the cancellation, though suggesting it might not be the last we see of Kate Gosellin on the network.

"TLC has decided not to renew another season of 'Kate Plus 8,'" said the release. "By the end of this season 'Kate Plus 8' will have hit the 150 episode mark (including 'Jon & Kate Plus 8'); an exceptional milestone. TLC hopes to check in with Kate and the family periodically with specials in the future."

As we reported two weeks ago, it's been a long while since since the Gosselins and their brood were introduced in two hour-long Discovery Health specials, and later, the "Jon & Kate Plus 8" fifth-season premiere snagged a network-record 9.8 million viewers.

After Jon and Kate Gosselin's September 2009 separation, TLC went into damage-control mode and rebranded the show "Kate Plus 8."

Apparently, there's even less conflict between the exes, which, while it's great for the Plus 8, may not be great for television.

Gosselin told People in June that her relationship with Jon has "just naturally gotten more peaceful, which is good. He's working now, which is great. He has somewhere else to put his attention, which is good."

"The kids enjoy spending time with him," she said. "They wish he would see them more, but as long as they come home happy – and more or less they do – I'm okay with that, so that's good."

Today Gosselin told her Twitter followers: "TLC canceled it. I'm sorry. We've had a great run! Six years of whirlwind fun-filled adventures. Thanks to TLC and our many, many supportive and diehard fans! While it is very sad for me and the kids (there were many tears at the breakfast table this morning!), we are we are looking forward with great anticipation to our bright future!"
