Kate Middleton Gives Birth to Second Royal Baby
by Andy Neuenschwander
Congratulations to Kate Middleton and Prince William!
The royal couple welcomed their second child, a girl, this morning at St. Mary's Hospital in London amid much ado, with devotees of the royal family having camped outside of the hospital for weeks in anticipation.
"Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daughter at 8:34 a.m.," read the official statement. The baby girl is now officially fourth in line for the throne behind Prince Charles, her father Prince William and of course her older brother, baby Prince George.
Middleton was reportedly admitted to the hospital around 6:00 a.m. this morning, making the delivery rather quick. The pregnancy seemed a little less complicated overall than Middleton's first pregnancy, which involved some worrying trips to the hospital.
In fact, Middleton's obstetrician for this delivery specializes in high-risk pregnancies.
The royal family has not made the official name announcement yet, but you can bet that we'll be meeting the new addition to the family soon.
