Justin Bieber Apologizes for Past Behavior: 'I'm Not What I Was Pretending to Be'
by Andy Neuenschwander
Hell has frozen over. Justin Bieber has apologized for his behavior.
After an appearance on "Ellen," Bieber took to Facebook to post a video of himself apologizing for his behavior over the past few years. "I think I was nervous because I was afraid of what people are thinking about me right now," he says. "It's been a minute since I've been in a public appearance, and I didn't want to come off arrogant or conceited or basically how I've been acting the past year, year and a half."
Bieber has been staying out of the public eye of late, with his most recent major media story being his Photoshopped Calvin Klein ad. Last year and the years before, though, Bieber was frequently in the news for a series of childish stunts: egging a neighbor's house and causing major property damage, peeing in a mop bucket at a restaurant, speeding in his car down neighborhood streets.
"I'm not what I was pretending to be. Why I say I was 'pretending' is often we pretend to be something we're not as a cover up of what we're truly feeling inside. And there was a lot of feelings going on in there," he adds in the video. "Just being young and growing up in this business is hard. Just growing up in general is hard."
Bieber also noted that he was "nervous" during his appearance on Ellen DeGeneres' show, because he felt that this "pretending" facade was down and he was being more vulnerable.
"I've done some things that might not have been the greatest," Bieber said on the show, to which Ellen sarcastically quipped, "Really? Nothing comes to mind."
