Justin Bieber and Mark Wahlberg Might Team Up for Basketball Movie

Justin Bieber might soon be returning to the big screen, but this time in a dramatic role. Oh, and he'll be playing basketball.

Confused? Here's the deal: Mark Wahlberg and Justin Bieber are reportedly working out a deal with Paramount to create a basketball movie starring Bieber and written by "How to Make It in America" writer Ian Edelman.

Since Bieber's documentary "Never Say Never" made bank for Paramount, they're obviously looking to capitalize even more on the young star's popularity.

So why basketball? Well, during the NBA All-Star Weekend, Bieber played in a celebrity game and held his own against other celebs (much taller than he) and former NBA stars.

In fact, Bieber was named MVP of the game. So, Bieber apparently has some hoops skills, and those could be put to work in a film.

The movie is being described as a mix between "The Color of Money" and "The Karate Kid," which makes it sound like it'll be about an outcast kid who trains hard and becomes a basketball star...which would make it a totally predictable movie, but hey, it has Justin Bieber in it. It will make money.

It's interesting that the project is being produced by Wahlberg, who used to be a musician himself before transitioning to acting. Can Bieber bring the same talent to the acting game? We've seen him in brief TV appearances, but holding up a lead role in a movie will be a different story.
