Joss Whedon Looking for New Actress to Play Batgirl

Where better to dig up info on the DC Universe than at a Marvel premiere?

At Wednesday night's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 world premiere, we ran into Joss Whedon, who recently announced he's bringing Batgirl back to the big screen for Warner Bros. (That's right, the Avengers: Age of Ultron director is hop-scotching comic universes.)

So, what's he's thinking in terms of casting the iconic role?

"What I'm looking for in a Batgirl is probably somebody new," Whedon told us on the red carpet. "Somebody who is willing to go the distance. It is going to be hard. I want somebody who's going to get in the trenches with me."

Joss Whedon is known for his strong female characters, including the leads in Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Dollhouse. Lindsey Morgan of The 100 had been rumored to be a frontrunner for the Batgirl role.
