Josh Trank Slated to Direct 'Star Wars' Stand-Alone

If it's not enough that Disney is currently producing a "Star Wars: Episode VII" directed by J.J. Abrams, don't worry. Josh Trank, who helms the "Fantastic Four" films, has been slated to direct a standalone "Star Wars" movie.
He'll be joining "Godzilla" runner Gareth Edwards in the direction of these "Star Wars" films. The subject of the standalones has not yet been revealed, but they will feature characters from the "Star Wars" universe developed by George Lucas.
They will not be a part of the upcoming episodes (hence "standalone," if you weren't totally sure on that definition).
Disney plans to release a new "Star Wars" film every year following the release of "Episode VII," which is due out in December of next year. Disney chief Bob Iger has said that they plan to release three more films, and "at least three" standalones in the next decade.
"We're thrilled to welcome Josh into the family," said Lucasfilm's president, Kathleen Kennedy. "He is such an incredible talent and has a great imagination and sense of innovation. That makes him perfectly suited to 'Star Wars,' and for this new slate of movies that reach beyond the core characters and storylines of Episodes I through IX."
What do you think of these standalone films? Will they be enough to lure you to theaters?
