Did Ben Seewald Throw Shade at In-Laws Regarding the '19 Kids and Counting' Sexual Abuse Scandal?
by Shannon KeirnanDid Ben Seewald, the 19-year-old husband of "19 Kids and Counting" star Jessa Duggar, make a pointed criticism of his in-laws on Instagram?
The post, which went up on Mother's Day, is getting a closer review following the sudden scandal surrounding the Duggar family. Allegations have surfaced that eldest son Josh Duggar had sexually abused five underage girls when he was a teenager.
Seewald's Instagram caption, which was placed under a photo of his parents, included:
"I want to give a shout out to my Mom and Dad. They've always sought to please God in raising me and my siblings. They've been loving, caring, and provided us with a good home and many happy memories. While many parents are abusing their children, earning the condemnation of God, my parents have always been protective of us and by God's gace have made our home a safe haven."
He adds, "There's a lot to say in this culture where parents who care enough to set standards for their kids are mocked and dishonored and where the ones who yield to their rebellious children in compromise are praised as 'loving.'"
Meanwhile, Seewald's father Michael has been openly showing support for the Duggar family.
"Don't be angry at the world for their hatred of you. Show them through your love for them that it is Jesus Christ that made all the difference in your lfie. I'm rooting for you," he posted on his family websites, adding, "We stand with the unnamed victims of these incidents."
Josh Duggar, now an adult and father, has issued an apology.
"Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret," he said. Duggar's wife Anna has claimed that she had always been aware of his "teenage mistakes."
TLC had pulled reruns of "19 Kids and Counting" from their schedule following the allegations, and also removed the Duggar family from their Summer Block Party lineup.
