Joseph Gordon-Levitt Producing New Television Show... and He Wants Your Help!
by Shannon Keirnan“The Dark Knight Rises” actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt is looking for collaborators to help him with a new television variety show moving quickly into development.
The show will take the success of his online collaboration HitRecord to television in a half-hour show hosted by Gordon-Levitt. It will feature short films, live performances, animation and more, centered around a theme different every episode.
With the show entering pre-production soon, Gordon-Levitt has called for writers, illustrators, musicians, illustrators, and editors to submit their work.
“Anyone can come with us… we form a community around the art that we make together.”
Young network Pivot, which has been developed by Participant Media, will be bringing the variety show to life.
"These guys are doing things a little bit differently," Levitt said. "And I think they have a lot of smart idea… This is not a joke, this is not a marketing gimmick. This is an invitation."
HitRecord, launched in 2010, follows a similar method. Artists from around the world are encouraged to submit their work, which is built into songs, videos, and animation. Films from the site have been screened at Sundance Film Festival, books have been published, records produced, and even tours begun. Profits from submissions are split with artists.

“I’m not lying, this is probably our biggest news ever,” Gordon-Levitt announces. “Ladies and gentlemen, we are making a T.V. show! Like, actually on television.”
