John Travolta is Top Pick to Play John Gotti in 'Gotti' Film

John Travolta is Top Pick to Play John Gotti in 'Gotti' Film John Travolta is famous for certain roles he’s played throughout his lifetime. He’s been an urban cowboy, he’s been a high school greaser and he’s been an angel. Will he take on the role of Mob Boss soon?

It seems that John Travolta might have been tapped to play John Gotti, the famous New York Mob Boss, in a new movie. Of course, nothing is official at this point, but sources close to movie execs say it is close.

What really has people excited is that James Franco might get to play his son, John Gotti Jr. How do you think that father and son duo would play out on the screen?

According to TMZ:

"Travolta was at Amici restaurant in Brentwood last night, where he was coy about taking the role. But Marty Ingels-- the Executive Producer of the movie who dined with John  -- was more direct, saying Travolta will play the lead role in the movie, titled 'Gotti.'
Our sources say Nick Cassavetes-- of 'Alpha Dog' and 'Notebook' fame -- is currently rewriting the script and will be the director. Marc Fiore-- who purchased the rights to Gotti's story back in September -- was also at the last night's meeting and is Executive Producer on the film."

So why else would you sit in on a production meeting if you weren’t actively considering the role?

I think he could play a great crime boss. And James Franco…he could nail the part. Would you be excited to see them play father and son?
