John McCain to Cameo on 'Parks and Recreation'

John McCain to Cameo on 'Parks and Recreation' It's safe to say that Amy Poehler's "Parks & Recreation" character Leslie Knope leans left in her politics, but next season might have her rubbing elbows with some prominent Republicans.

Senator John McCain tweeted today that he "had a great time shooting @ParksandRecNBC today w/ Amy Poehler," confirming that the former presidential nominee will be making an appearance on the show next season. Other politicians making cameos in the episode include Maine senator Olympia Snowe and California senator Barbara Boxer.

As for the cast, it looks like Aubrey Plaza and Chris Pratt joined Poehler and Adam Scott at the shoot in Washington, D.C., which implies that not only will Leslie be visiting Ben while he's working his new job, but Andy and April will be making the trip as well.

It was a big day for "Parks and Recreation," but also a disappointing one, as the 2012 Emmy nominations were announced Thursday morning. Poehler nabbed another acting nomination and the show earned two writing nominations, but voters snubbed the show in the Outstanding Comedy Series category as new shows "Girls" and "Veep" took spots instead.
