Jodi Foster's Secret Wedding!
by Shannon KeirnanCongratulations!
Jodie Foster, 51, married her girlfriend of one year (photographer Alexandra Hedison) over the weekend.
Not surprisingly, the "Silence of the Lambs" actress did not give a public statement regarding the marriage, or reveal any details, but her publicist did confirm that the two have tied the knot.
That the news has been kept from prying eyes shouldn't come as a shock. Foster acknowledged she is gay (sort of) during her 2013 Golden Globes acceptance speech for the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award, but has always kept her private life closely guarded.
"I'm here being all confessional, and I guess I have a sudden urge to say something I've never really been able to air in public, a declaration that I'm a little nervous about but maybe not quite as nervous as my publicist right now - hi Jennifer - but I'm just going to put it out there, right, loud and proud. I'm going to need your support on this. I am, uh, single."
Well, not anymore!
As explanation, Foster's speech continued that she had done her "coming out about a thousand years ago back in the Stone Age."
"But now I'm told, apparently, that every celebrity is expected to honor the details of their private life with a press conference, a fragrance, and a prime-time reality show.... No, I'm sorry, that's just not me. It never was and never will be," she added.
During her speech Foster thanked her former partner Cydney Bernard, with whom she has two sons. Hedison previously dated Ellen DeGeneres, parting ways with the daytime host in 2004, and Foster and Hedison became a couple last summer.
Wishing both all the best!
