Joan Collins Fashion Disaster Leads to a Hospital Visit

Spanx, the ultimate body shaper, just might save lives.

After nearly passing out at an Oscar party, actress Joan Collins explained that her purple Georges Hobeika dress was the source of her temporary sickness.

Collins, 77, was rushed to the hospital after feeling faint at Graydon Carter’s viewing party and dinner held at the Sunset Tower Hotel.

"The truth was, I made the wrong decision to wear a very tight dress, and had something rather like a Victorian swoon," she explained to the Daily Mail.

"We had been there for seven hours, and I started feeling dizzy. I tried to get some air, but I felt really faint. I wanted to leave in our limo, but Percy (my husband) decided to call an ambulance. We went to the hospital, and they did all the tests before the doctors told me I was absolutely fine and released me."

While, it remains unclear whether or not she was actually wearing Spanx, the product has been known to work major miracles on the red carpet.

Carrie Underwood said they are her award show secret weapon, and at the 2009 Grammys, Miley Cyrus called Spanx “a gift from God.”
