Jimmy Fallon Totally Blew a Date with Nicole Kidman...Because He Didn't Know It Was a Date

Most of us have probably had a situation where we totally screwed up a first date. But for most of us, that date probably wasn't with Nicole Kidman.

The Aussie actress appeared on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" to talk to Fallon about her new movie, "Paddington." The conversation took a turn, though, when Kidman revealed that she had gone on a date of sorts with Fallon a long time ago...only Fallon didn't know it was a date.

As Nicole tells it, she was into Jimmy back in the day, and had a mutual friend set them up. The problem is, Jimmy thought they were just meeting to talk about a movie or something.

So Jimmy ended up playing videogames and just hanging out with Nicole, without giving it any of the effort that a date with Nicole Kidman should require.

"It was bad," Nicole said. "And so after about an hour and a half I thought, 'He has no interest. This is so embarrassing.' "

Now Jimmy is the one who's embarrassed. "I had no clue!" he told Nicole during the interview, and later tweeted, "I am so embarrased."

Nicole gave him the benefit of the doubt at the time, though. "I was like, 'Maybe he's gay,' " she said.

Of course, Jimmy Fallon is now happily married to Nancy Juvonen (they tied the knot in 2007), and Nicole Kidman married country star Keith Urban in 2006. So, all's well that ends well.

We're betting Jimmy might still be facepalming a little, somewhere deep down.
