Jim Nabor Marries His Long-Time Partner

Jim Nabor Marries His Long-Time Partner Jim Nabors, best known for playing sweet Gomer Pyle in the 1960’s, had married his long-time partner, Stan Cadwallader.

The two flew in from their home in Honolulu to Seattle, Washington, where gay marriage became legal last December.

Nabors, 82, and Cadwallader, 64, have been together a whopping 38 years. They married in a quiet ceremony on January 15th at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel.

"I'm 82 and he's in his 60s and so we've been together for 38 years, and I'm not ashamed of people knowing, it's just that it was such a personal thing I didn't tell anybody," Nabor said.

"I'm very happy that I've had a partner of 38 years and I feel very blessed. And what can I tell you, I'm just very happy."

The “Andy Griffith Show” staple added that it was becoming important for him and Cadwallader to make it legal, so that there would be no confusion if the issue of sickness or death came up.

"It's pretty obvious that we had no rights as a couple, yet when you've been together 38 years, I think something's got to happen there, you've got to solidify something. And at my age, it's probably the best thing to do,” Nabors explained.

This is the first time the actor has openly acknowledged he is homosexual, although he claims it was something he’s known since he was a child, and has never been a secret to those close to him.

"This is really no big deal. My friend and I, my partner, we went through all of this 38 years ago. So, I mean, we made our vows and that was it. It was to each other, but nevertheless, we were a couple.”

Congratulations to the newlyweds!
