Jessica Simpson Sells People Magazine Dibs On First Baby Pics
by Sean ComerThe Jessica Simpson Baby Sweepstakes has ended, and it's People crossing the finish line first.
And it only cost the weekly magazine nearly seven figures to get the duke.
Hollywood Life reports that Simpson and fiancé Eric Johnson have inked a deal with People that guarantees them first baby-picture dibs at the low, low price of $800,000. Hey, it doesn't matter what you do for a living. An extra nearly million dollars is still an extra nearly million dollars.
And on the bright side for People, they're actually getting off light to be the first to get baby Maxwell Drew Johnson to watch the birdie. Four years ago, they forked over $6 million to take the first photos of Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony's twins, Emme and Maximilian. For the first photos of their tykes Vivienne and Knox, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie pulled down $11 million just three years ago.
The windfall doesn't stop there, though. Unconfirmed reports claim that Weight Watchers has ponied up $4 million for the privilege of helping Jessica lose a lot of baby weight. Tack all that onto NBC picking up Simpson's reality competition series "Fashion Star" for another season, and it's been quite a two weeks.
Born May 1, Maxwell is the first child for both Johnson and Simpson.
