Jessica Biel Rumored To Go "Bad" In 'The Wolverine'

It's the way of the world when one such as Jessica Biel becomes a face of blockbusters: one just wants to stump for the most immediate upcoming project, such as she would've had fans and press let her do for "Total Recall" at this weekend's San Diego Comic-Con.

But then, Deadline had to go and break the rumor Saturday that Biel could soon be set to give an iconic X-Man Hell in 2013.

Biel is reportedly set to step into the antagonist role of Victoria/Viper in "The Wolverine," the 20th Century Fox follow-up/do-over to 2009's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." If she's indeed cast - and Biel herself said "That's not totally true. It's a little too early to say..." - then she'll be starring alongside a returning Hugh Jackman as Wolverine journeys to Japan to find some sense of peace.

Amid Marvel lore, Viper waffles between the sides of good and evil, bringing with her to either side her superior acumen with either a sword or firearm and formidable physical prowess. She's also a crafty blackmailer who at one point finagles her way into a marriage to Wolverine. Elsewhere, she's been a foe to seemingly half the Marvel heroes under the sun, including the Fantastic Four, Captain America and the New Mutants, to name just a few.

Biel/Marvel pairings are nothing entirely new: to describe Viper, one might as well be describing Abigail Whistler, the bow-wielding killer of vampires she played opposite Ryan Reynolds and Wesley Snipes in 2004's "Blade: Trinity."

"The Wolverine" is already set to feature Jackman squaring off against Will Yun Lee as Silver Samurai - in Marvel canon, Viper's presumed lover.
