'Jersey Shore' Update: The Situation Enters Rehab?

The Situation Jersey Shore Rehab It hasn't been officially confirmed by his representatives, but TMZ claims that "Jersey Shore" star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino has entered rehab.

The former Staten Island gym manager and model-turned-TV personality's representation acknowledged he's recoveringi from something, but denied without actual "denial" that Sorrentino is seeking help for a substance-abuse problem.

"[He] has spent the past several weeks at an undisclosed location for much needed rest and recuperation after his extensive production and appearance schedule," The Situation's flak told the website.

This report comes just a day after MTV announced that "Jersey Shore" will start filming its sixth season this coming summer. The Situation has been a fixture on the cult reality favorite since its 2009 debut. In 2010, the $5 million he accrued through various endorsements ranging from deals with Devotion vodka and Reebok to promotional agreements for workout DVDs and vitamin lines among other products ranked only behind Kim Kardashian's earnings among the top-earning reality stars.

That being known, it's been suggested his money has never exactly been long for this world. Pick an episode of "Jersey Shore." Almost any episode. Whatever one picks, it probably exemplifies that he drinks and parties as hard as anyone. Maybe just as tellingly, his fellow famous housemate Snooki claimed in a November 2011 GQ interview that The Situation was already broke after a mere three years of fame.

It's only the latest hurdle that's struck the MTV hit. The sixth season will already be shooting around the latter stages of Snooki's pregnancy, and there's been no word yet addressing how Snooki's delicate condition impacts her upcoming spin-off alongside pal JWoww. Anything bearing a "Jersey Shore" lineage may one day be in jeopardy, since Hoboken, NJ officials have long since informed MTV and 495 Productions that their "attractive nuisance" filming in public without city permits will no longer be overlooked or tolerated.
