'Jersey Shore' Cast Begged for Reboot

MTV's reboot of Jersey Shore wasn't a hard sell for the show's cast members, according to star Snooki Polizzi. Snooki and the rest of the cast were more than ready to give up being adults and drink to blacking out for the cameras one more time. All MTV had to do was ask--and give them some money.

The cast of “Jersey Shore” was ready for its comeback.

“We basically were begging MTV to bring us back,” Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi told the New York Times in a story published Thursday about the upcoming reboot. “We were begging everyone to bring us back.”

Although the cast hadn’t been far from viewers’ minds since the show went off the air in 2012 — thanks to shows of varying success like “Snooki and JWoww” and “The Show with Vinny” — it wasn’t until the reunion series “Jersey Shore Family Vacation” that things finally came together.

But the new MTV series, which reunites the entire original cast with the exception of Sammi “Sammi Sweetheart” Giancola, isn’t the first stab at a reunion. Last year, E! aired a special that brought together some of the castmates, but it didn’t feel right.

“I wanted to show what I had going on in my life now,” Paul “Pauly D” DelVecchio, who appeared on the program, told the paper. “But I also felt like I was betraying the network and the producers.”

This time there are none of those worries. And although everyone is older — and, in Michael “The Situation” Sorrentino’s case, preparing to serve time — that doesn’t mean they won’t cut loose.

“I had to keep telling myself, yes, you miss the kids, but you can be a bad mom for a little bit. Go drink. Go black out,” Snooki said. “Do what you’ve got to do.”
