Jennifer Lopez Having Fun with 'American Idol,' Dances 'On the Floor'

The actress/singer/American Idol judge spoke to MTV during the shooting of her latest music video “On the Floor,” saying that she just wanted to be natural and be herself on the singing reality show.

J.Lo said, "I really just wanted to be myself, and I think Steven [Tyler] thought the same thing. We sat down there and it wasn't like, 'What are we going to do?' It was like, 'You be you.' I think that's why they chose us."

J.Lo also thinks that perhaps one of the reasons why the producers of “American Idol” chose her and Steven Tyler to join Randy Jackson as judges to the show is because of their solid character.

"They knew that he was a good person and that I was a good person. He was an interesting person. I had my things about me that they felt were interesting. They knew what they were doing. That's why they came to us," said Jennifer Lopez.

The new “American Idol” judge further described her role as a judge at the singing reality show as, “a very natural, fun experience.”

J.Lo also emphasized, “We're also very serious about what we're doing, and I think people get that too. Like, we're not just phoning it in. We actually care about this, we care about the process, we care about music, we care about artists, and you're getting all that," she said.

"And that's pretty much how we handle it every day. I'm having a good time.”

Meanwhile, J.Lo’s goal for her new music video “On the Floor” is pretty simple - to get everyone to dance.

According to Lopez, "I play one character who kind of runs this party, acts like she's kind of over it, but at the same time loves it and loves this kind of underground kind of party dance culture. So I got to be wild and crazy, and at the same time I got to be sexy and sweet too. Every single lyric is about letting go… Get on the floor and be an animal,” said the pop star.

Jennifer Lopez said she had so many reasons for people to be excited about the album, and she assured that the songs would make people groove.
