Jennifer Lawrence Trash Talks Oscar Nominees on 'SNL'

Jennifer Lawrence Trash Talks Oscar Nominees on 'SNL' Jennifer Lawrence hosted “Saturday Night Live” this weekend, where she was sassy, adorable, and made plenty of those strange faces and “Hunger Games” jokes. Obviously.

Lawrence also used her monologue to mention her much-discussed statement “I beat Meryl!” which she exclaimed during her Golden Globes acceptance speech. The announcement had a few up-in-arms, but Lawrence was quick to explain.

“Now, one thing happened at the Globe that I need to clarify. During my acceptance speech, I said ‘I beat Meryl,’ which is a quote from the movie ‘The First Wives Club,’ but which some people took as me trash-talking Meryl Streep, which is crazy.”

She added earnestly, “I would never trash-talk any of my fellow nominees at the Golden Globes… but the Oscars are another story. Ladies, I love you all, but you’re about to get served.”

And did they. How about poor Jessica Chastain? Lawrence ain’t bothered.

“In ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ you caught Bin Laden. So what? In ‘Winter’s Bone’ I caught a squirrel, and then I ate it. Boom. Deal with that.”

Naomi Watts doesn’t get special treatment either. Lawrence scoffs at her chances of winning.

“You were in ‘The Impossible.’ You know what else is impossible? You beating me on Oscar night.”

Even nine-year-old “Beasts of the Southern Wild” star Quvenzhane Wallis didn’t escape unscathed.

“The alphabet called, they want their letters back,” Lawrence quipped.

Luckily, Lawrence added something complimentary to each joke to help soften the sting. The way she has been cleaning up on awards nights, her competitors have enough wounds to lick.
