Jennifer Lawrence Faceplants After Winning Best Actress

And Jennifer Lawrence wins the year!
The “Silver Linings Playbook” actress took home Best Actress at the 85th Annual Academy Awards tonight… and she did it all with a kind of flustered charm after her beautiful (but very expansive) Dior gown caused her to trip on the stairs while she was moving up the stairs to accept the award.
Not the first wardrobe malfunction—of a sort—for the talented actress, whose paneled Dior gown at the SAG Awards appeared to rip… although later Lawrence explained that it simply slipped down.
“You guys are just standing up because you feel bad that I fell, and that’s embarrassing, but thank you,” Lawrence laughs breathlessly at the microphone.
Lawrence seems so surprised to have won, she can’t quite get out a speech with eloquence or pizzazz… but it has that special filter-less Jennifer Lawrence charm.
“This is nuts!” she exclaims. She goes on to thank the women she has worked with this year.
“You’ve been so nice and you’ve made this experience unforgettable,” she gushes, blurting out “Happy birthday Emmanuelle!’
The reference is to her competition, Emmanuelle Riva, who was up for Best Actress in “Amour.”
Lawrence beat out some heavy hitters for the title beyond Riva. Jessica Chastain was nominated for “Zero Dark Thirty,” Quvenzhane Wallis for “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” and Naomi Watts for “The Impossible.”
Lawrence also pulled in awards at the Golden Globes, the Screen Actors Guild, The Spirit Awards, and the Critic’s Choice Awards. And those are just the big ones.
