Jeffrey Wright Coming Soon For A Showdown With 'House'

Jeffrey Wright Coming Soon For A Showdown With 'House' How is Hugh Laurie’s Dr. Gregory House like Batman?

Give up? Too easy: either might not be a man with whom one ought to screw, but either’s defining character traits – the Dark Knight’s boundless sense of duty to the pursuit of protecting the innocent, or House’s to advancing the finest applications of condescending snark to loudly affirming the genius peers grudgingly already acknowledge – if neither had some worthy foil to buck.

Would we really care if House were quick to compromise and a tool of diplomacy, or if “the system” and its nature supported his every maverick move?

Please. He’ll always need his “Joker.” The moment he hasn’t got that, that’s when we stop caring.

And today, TVLine.com reports that 2003 Emmy winner for “Angels In America” Jeffrey Wright will have one eye on notching his gun in early 2012 with the fastest snark in Princeton Plainsboro. Wright will be joining the “House” cast for a role that’s being kept under-wraps for now, but will reportedly feature Wright as Foreman’s (Omar Epps) acclaimed neurosurgeon mentor who will have a major impact on House’s professional future.

Just to further bolster the episode’s dream-team factor, the episode will be the 30th to be directed by “House” executive producer Greg Yaitanes. If that’s not an immediately familiar name, he previously directed (and won an Emmy for) the Season Four episode “House’s Head.” The episode, called “Nobody’s Fault,” was written by Garrett Lerner, Russel Friend and David Foster.

In the meantime, Wright will be appearing with Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock in “Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close,” which hits theaters January 20, 2012.

Well, how much of a chance could he really stand? After all, the doc has already notched his own six-gun with the likes of David Morse, Chi McBride and Andre Braugher. Methinks House won’t exactly be having night-sweats this winter.
