'Jaws' Will Return to Theaters for its 40th Anniversary

Your summer at the movies is about to get a whole lot better.

The original blockbuster, Steven Spielberg's classic terror ride "Jaws" will be heading back to select theaters for a limited time to honor the film's 40th anniversary.

Fathom Events is teaming up with Turner Classic Movies and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment for the release. "Jaws" will be appearing in around 500 select theaters around the U.S. on June 21st and June 24th. You can check out Fathom Events' website to find a theater near you. Showings will be at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The showings will also feature an introduction from Turner Classic Movies host Ben Mankiewicz, which will discuss the long legacy of "Jaws," and how it became such a quintessential thriller.

The film earned $7 million its opening weekend, and went on to gross over $470 million worldwide, and went on to become one of the highest grossing films of all time, as well as one of the most acclaimed American movies. It was only Spielberg's second feature film.

The movie features Roy Scheider as Martin Brody, a police chief in the fictional New England town Amity Island, where a killer great white shark is terrorizing the beaches. He teams up with an oceanographer (Richard Dreyfuss) and a shark hunter (Robert Shaw) in an attempt to end its killing streak.

"Jaws" is credited with starting the trend of the summer blockbuster, and aslo making people crap-their-shorts scared of sharks. Will you head to theaters to see it swim back through?
