Is Jason Segel Officially Engaged to Michelle Williams?

An Australian tabloid called Woman's Day is reporting that lovable Jason Segel, star of "The Muppets," has proposed to acclaimed "My Week with Marilyn" star and  new girlfriend Michelle Williams.

The two were recently in California to attend Comic-Con, where I would guess the general public response was, "Wait, is that Michelle Williams? At Comic-Con?"

According to the magazine, adorable Segel, know for his wicked and often inappropriate sense of humor, went the romantic route with the approach by filling their San Diego hotel room with Williams' favorite flowers. The actress' six-year-old daughter, Matilda, was in on the surprise.

Dressed up and smiling, she brought a bouquet of flowers from Segel to her mother, with a note "Will You Marry Me?" tucked into the blossoms.

Precious. Maybe even enough to crack a few teeth on Williams's generally bemused visage. But, is it true?

Williams and Segel just started up their rather mismatched romance in March despite being friends for years, and Williams has a history of not getting locked down in relationships. Matilda is, remember, the genetically blessed result of her long-term romance with the late talent Heath Ledger. So was friendship a solid enough foundation to jumpstart matrimony?

Apparently, no.

Not true, a rep for Williams has responded. The two are reported to be happy, but not engaged.

Okay, now, listen. I want Segel to remain on the market just as much as any other girl who doesn't mind a little extra padding as long as they're funny, but the two have been close friends for years, and Segel is reportedly a great father figure for Matilda. Frankly the whole thing sounds a little too adorable to ruffle any lady feathers.

And, since the two are observed to be wildly in love, maybe we should all just put away our copies of "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and resign ourselves now.
