Jamie Dornan Nails 'Fifty Shades of Grey' Audition

Casting for "Fifty Shades of Grey" might soon rise from the ashes it fell into last week when Charlie Hunnam walked away from the role of Christian Grey. This weekend, E! Online reports that Jamie Dornan ("Once Upon a Time") impressed in his audition for the role, and he just might be the actor that the film's producers so desperately need if they're to keep their project on schedule.

According to E! News' unnamed source, Dornan "had a really good read" on Friday and, the source said, the studio is eager to sign him—or anyone—to the part. So eager, in fact, that they don't even want to take the time to see how potential candidates perform with Dakota Johnson, the actress signed to play female lead Anastasia Steele.

"The studio isn't worried about Dakota. They think she could handle whoever the guy is," the source said.

Vocal fans of the book on which the film is based are unlikely to be so accepting of just any old actor as the studio thinks Johnson will be. Fan outrage over Hunnam's casting is rumored to be part of the reason that the actor dropped out of the project, and fans are generally not much happier with Johnson. Actors at the top of fans' wish lists for the role of Christian Grey include Matt Bomer and Ian Somerhalder, both of whom have expressed no interest in pursuing the job.
