James Mardsen Joins The 'Anchorman' Sequel!

One more awesome actor will be joining the cast of “Anchorman 2!”

Kristen Wiig of “Bridesmaids” has already added her name to the list, signing on to play Brick Tamland’s love interest… and now “X-Men” star James Marsden has also announced his involvement.

Apparently Marsden will be playing a rival anchor, and nemesis, to Will Ferrell’s hilarious Ron Burgundy.

Marsden may be best known for playing Cyclops, but he’s no stranger to comedy. Perhaps you recognize him as Liz Lemon’s love interest Criss Chros on “30 Rock?”

While details on the “Anchorman” sequel are still under wraps (and being developed), what is known is that the film will take place around 1978, when “all of a sudden, local news stations diversified and had Latino anchors and African-American anchors, and any time you're talking about diversity and the Action News team, that's always fun to deal with.”

Interesting. That concept would be especially difficult on Burgundy, who doesn’t speak Spanish.

The sequel is set to begin filming in Atlanta next month, and will be bringing back cast staples Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd, David Koechner, and possibly even Luke Wilson, with Adam McKay directing.

McKay recently leaked some expectations for the sequel:

"We're talking about for ‘Anchorman 2’ creating a murderer's row of the best day players ever. Like having every single one line or three line role, just be someone we just love. Someone like Ian Roberts or Rob Huebel or Paula Killen — just making sure every day player is a homerun."
