James Franco is Done With Twitter

Celebrities have a love/hate relationship with Twitter. It's a great way for them to interact directly with their fans, but it's also a way for haters to interact directly with them. Just yesterday, "How I Met Your Mother" star Neil Patrick Harris tweeted that he was leaving Twitter because of hateful, negative comments...then later tweeted that it was just an April Fool's joke.

James Franco has deleted his Twitter account, but it's not because of negative tweets. Franco has been known to be something of a controversial tweeter: he posted a modified picture of Bruce Vilanch after getting criticism about his hosting of the Oscars, he tweeted a picture of his unzipped pants with a foreign object coming out of them, and he recently posted a picture from a film shoot of himself surrounded by naked women.

"My thought was 'this is my Twitter. I can do whatever I want.' But certain companies I work with contacted me about what I was saying," said Franco.

So, what he means is "Damn the Man!"

Franco deleted the account on April Fool's Day, but unlike NPH's threat, it doesn't look like this was just a prank. Will Franco return to Twitter, or just stay quiet? I guess if he stays off, he'll have to promote "Your Highness" the old-fashioned way.
