Insurance Company: OK, Maybe Paris Hilton Didn't Steal After All

Insurance Company: OK, Maybe Paris Hilton Didn't Steal After All Good Heavens. Brace yourself, everybody: Paris Hilton gets to say "I told you so."

Allianz, insurers for upscale jewelry boutique Damiani, have had a change of heart, according to TMZ. The insurance company decided that Paris Hilton has been telling the truth since 2008, when she explained that jewels on loan from the upscale shop were not among those of the $2.8 million worth of baubles stolen from her that police later recovered.

The business' owners had originally claimed essentially that Hilton had reported the jewels stolen and kept them for herself. Damiani representatives filed a 2011 lawsuit against Hilton to recoup their losses, but Hilton always maintained that the Damiani jewels on loan had never been recovered. The jewels had been estimated to be worth right around $60,000.

A Hilton spokeswoman claimed that "only costume jewelry" had been recovered.

I'm not proud that I'm about to have to defend Paris Hilton, but it was a pretty sketchy accusation in the first place.

This woman is more wealthy than a sultan, and hasn't worked for an iota of it. She has purses and shoes probably worth more than those jewels. Why in Heaven's name would she steal something worth not a fraction of some of the lesser things in her closet?

Common sense, people. Paris doesn't necessarily have it. But more is expected from the rest of us.
