Indiana Jones is Back: 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' Set to Return in IMAX

Indiana Jones is heading back to theaters, but don't worry: there won't be any aliens, and Shia LaBeouf won't be tagging along.

"Raiders of the Lost Ark," the movie that started the Indiana Jones franchise back in 1981, will be hitting theaters in September for an IMAX re-release. That ought to give anyone who wasn't of theatergoing age (or, you know, alive) in the 1980's a chance to see it on the big screen for the first time, and give anyone who did see it back in the 80's a chance to see it on a really, really big screen.

Why now? Well, the re-release is in celebration of the fact that Paramount will be releasing the full Indiana Jones collection on Blu-Ray for the first time in mid-September. The screenings of "Raiders" look to be starting on the 7th.

Here's the catch: Paramount hasn't made an official announcement yet. This info is out is due to a number of IMAX theaters listing tickets for the engagement on their websites already, even though no Paramount is still mum. The studio is expected to make an announcement soon.

I for one am pretty excited about the idea. Hey, as long as nobody's swinging from vines in the jungle, I say screen all the Indy movies. Here's hoping we get to see some hearts being yanked out and some Sean Connery in the near future as well.
