Inception Comes to DVD and Blu-Ray on December 7, 2010

On December 7 Inception will come to your home theatre system.  Finally you will have the opportunity to pause it and say, “What. Just. Happened.”

A mind-bending tale from director Christopher Nolan (Memento, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight) the film created a stir last summer with its intricate plot and incredible visuals.  Dubbed as a thinking man’s action movie, Inception eventually pulled in $291,448,103 domestically.

However there was some criticism leveled at the film for being overly complicated.  Critics claimed that while the visuals were interesting to look at they didn’t help to propel the story forward.  Some said that the actual story, once you pulled away all the showiness, wasn’t very interesting and that the characters felt flat and one dimensional.

Others couldn’t find enough positive things to say about it.  They felt that Nolan’s particular brand of non-linear story-telling was superbly showcased in this plotline dealing with the intricacies of the human mind and the surreal world of dreams.  They found the characters’ internal struggles compelling and riveting.

More than anything, though Inception made a dent in the mostly brainless summer movie heap.  During a time of year when the movie industry looks for movies with increasingly bigger car chases, or more powerful explosions, or a more loyal built-in fan base, Inception was a breath of fresh air.  A truly artistic movie centered around coming to grips with the demons in your own mind, the film should be experienced at least once; although, you’re bound to have to view it a second time.
