Ian McKellen to Officiate Patrick Stewart's Wedding. True Story.

“I am going to marry Patrick,” says Ian McKellen of his “X-Men: Days of Future Past” co-star Patrick Stewart.

But it’s not what you think. Rather than confessing a crush, McKellen is being quite literal.

“Well, no. How else do you put that? I am going to officiate at this wedding,” he clarified.

Is this a science-fiction fan’s strange dream or what?

He’s referring to the upcoming wedding between 72-year-old Stewart—also well-known for playing Captain Jean Luc Picard in “Star Trek: The Next Generation”—and his 35-year-old fiancee, jazz singer Sunny Ozell. The two have been dating since 2009.

“I read out the words, and Sunny and Patrick will then be married — I declare you man and wife,” McKellen said, though he wasn’t sure about making it legal in America.

"I don't know. But in Massachusetts, or in the middle of America somewhere, you get a friend along, and I read out the words, and Sunny and Patrick will then be married."

He has performed a ceremony in the U.K., however.

"I've done it once before with two guys having a civil partnership," McKellen explained. "I was crying my eyes out."

What will the “Lord of the Rings” star wear to officiate?
"Well last time I went with a white gown, something I bought in India. It was rather fetching…. You musn't upstage the bride."

This will be Stewart’s third wedding. He was previous married to Sheila Falconer from 1966 to 1990, and Wendy Neuss from 2000 to 2003.
