Ian Harding Pitches Fantasy 'Pretty Little Liars' Spin Off
by EG
In a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Pretty Little Liars star Ian Harding mused about the future of his character, Ezra, and the character's new fiancee, Aria (played by Lucy Hale). His idea for a spin-off series was pure fantasy, but it suggests that the PLL cast is thinking about the impending end of the series.
"If the writers came to me and said, 'OK, here’s what we’re thinking. It’s going to be you and Lucy Hale living in Prague, and in those five years that you were away, turns out Ezra has learned to fight,'" Harding said when asked about his vision for Ezra's and Aria's future. "Now we’re secret agents a lá The Americans on FX, except maybe not as violent because it will probably still be on Freeform."
Harding then backpedalled a bit on his assumption that the family-oriented Freeform network wouldn't be willing to throw a little violence into one of its series.
"I say maybe not as violent, but I see some of the promos for what’s on Freeform and I go, 'You know what? We’re a couple of death scenes away from Game of Thrones.'" he said. "So I can’t imagine my desire to be a secret assassin in Prague is something they’d shoot down immediately."
Of course, there's no indication that Freeform is interested in a PLL spin off at this point, but if they're willing to consider it, Harding clearly has some ideas he'd like to pitch.
